Democrats For Life Praises Ahmaud Arbery Verdict
Harriet Bradley, Director of African American Outreach
As I watched the verdict in the trial of Ahmaud Arbery and heard the word "guilty," I immediately cried and said, “Thank you, Jesus.”
When the jury was selected, and there was only one African American person on the jury, I had my doubts that this jury would render a guilty verdict. But this jury saw the evidence and ruled Ahmaud Arbery's life was taken by murder.
I believe they saw the value of a life. A life was taken. We at Democrats For Life of America applaud this jury for rendering this verdict. We fight for the life of a person from the womb to the tomb. We value life.
I believe this verdict says that an African American man's life has value. This is a tremendous victory for this country. My prayers go out to all the families affected by this murder. I remember when I was a child, my father shared with me that it was common for an African American's life–and especially an African American man’s life–to be taken without penalty. This verdict says that this is a new day.
